I’m Randi from Dukes and Duchesses and I’m honored to be guest posting at House of Hepworths today!
I’m a stay-at-home mother of five, ranging in age from one to thirteen. My days are full of the usual family busy-ness but I always find time for a little sanity-saving creativity. Dukes and Duchesses is my portfolio: a scrapbook of things I make. Some of my projects also find their way into my etsy shop, An Eclectic Mess.
I’m inspired by beautiful yarns and interesting textures and I love to knit fun little goodies. My knitting needles click year round and a good road-trip means I’ll always come home with at least one completed project. These rosette coffee cuffs were the product of one small road trip and a lot of time in the carpool lines. Doesn’t a little Starbucks look so much better with a cute cuff?
Sewing is another passion. I could spend hours in a good fabric store, touching textiles and admiring patterns. I love to sew for my younger kids {the older ones have outgrown the homemade clothes phase} and make things for our home and I’m often inspired by other seamstresses and the imagination and creativity I see. I love simple projects that have a big cute factor, like this birthday outfit that my youngest wore last year. You have to check out the hat she wore with it!
Right after my husband and kids, I love my Silhouette. Best money my husband ever spent. I use it at least a few times a week and I joke that if something holds still long enough, I’ll embellish it with that little machine. Vinyl, heat transfer, paper cutting … I love it all.
Thanks for letting me share a little about Dukes and Duchesses today. I hope you’ll stop by for a visit and see a few more of my projects!
